Why the BIBS® HP System?
The BIBS HP system combines the performance benefits of the original Blow-In Blanket system with spray polyurethane foam to reduce air infiltration, achieve higher R-values, control sound, eliminate settling, provide fire protection, and more.
Reduced Air Infiltration
According to Reduced Air Infiltration National Laboratory tests, BIBS HP system reduces air infiltration up to 68% over conventional batt insulation, providing more comfort in buildings of all types.
Excellent Sound Control
The BIBS HP system is a proven, premium insulation that controls the transmission of sound. It completely fills around objects inside the wall cavity, resulting in excellent sound control.
Higher Efficiency R-Values
The BIBS HP system is a high-density insulation delivers the highest R-values on the market today, maximizing energy efficiency and quickly paying for itself through energy savings and lower utility bills.
Non-Settling
The BIBS HP system will not settle when installed correctly. The unique process of placing a densely-packed blanket of fiberglass behind a dust-free fabric virtually eliminates settling.
Flammability
The BIBS HP system is naturally non-flammable. It meets ASTM C764 testing criteria for smoldering combustion and ASTM E136 for non-combustion.
Recycled Content
In addition to its energy-saving and custom-fit qualities, the BIBS HP system incorporates fiberglass blowing wool made with 25% or greater recycled content.

BIBS® HP System Application
First, a certified contractor applies polyurethane spray foam to the wall cavity to create a continuous air barrier, eliminating gaps and air leakage. Then, the proprietary BIBS HP system fabric is installed to the face of the wall cavity. Lastly, approved fiberglass blowing wool is blown into the walls, floors, attics, or ceilings. The fiberglass insulation completely fills the wall cavity around pipes, wires, and other objects inside the cavity.

During BIBS HP system installation, fiberglass insulation completely fills the wall cavity around pipes, wires, and other objects inside the cavity to a consistent density, thus achieving a correlating R-value. These guidelines must be followed to ensure proper success of the BIBS HP system. BIBS HP system is designed to meet the hybrid assembly requirements of IRC Section 702.7 where a Class 3 Vapor Retarder (i.e. Latex Paint) is permitted for Climate Zones 4 through 8 instead of Poly (Class 1 VR) or Kraft (Class 2 VR) coverings. (Note: The tables use R-6.8 per inch for ccSPF and R-4.23 for BIBS cavity insulation.) Please refer to the manufacturer’s specifications and consult a building official for local building code requirements.
